The accused Deepanshu was son of a gardener and used to wash cars in the locality where 92-year-old-Sewaram and his daughter-in-law Shashi, 62, were found murdered on June 14, said DCP Parmaditya, Central Delhi district police.
Bodies of the victims with stab injuries were found in a room of their house and a cell phone along with around Rs 25,000 were found to be stolen.
While investigating the case police found that Deepanshu was missing since the double murder. A police team was sent to Rae Bareli in UP to his maternal grandparents' home but no success was achieved however it was found that he had left for Delhi, said the officer.
He admitted entering the house of the victims on June 14 morning when Sudhir, son of Sewaram, had gone out, to rob the lonely senior citizens.

He picked up scissors from the kitchen to defend himself and searched the house for valuables, police said.
The accused encountered Shashi in a room and overpowered her by strangulating and then stabbing her with the scissors.
Alerted by her cries, Sewaram arrived in the room and was similarly murdered by him, said the officer. The weapon of offence and the blood stained clothes of the accused were also recovered, added the officer.
