Patients of the Government General Hospital here today were enthralled by a musical feast of old Malayalam and Hindi songs, as part of an 'Arts and Medicine' project.
The songs were presented by Kochi Gitanjali, as part of the project being conducted by the Kochi Biennale Foundation (KBF).
"Music has the power to soothe human mind. The Arts Medicine project being organised by the KBF and the Mehboob Memorial Orchestra is a model for other hospitals to follow," poet and lyricist R K Damodharan said after inaugurating the programe.
Kochi Gitanjali, an initiative by a group of music lovers headed by BSNL official, Mini Pisharadi, presented 16 evergreen songs from old movies before a packed audience, including patients, bystanders and staff.
Songs like "ezhu sundara ratrikal", "kahi door jab din dhal jaye" and "chakravarthini ninakku njan ente" had the audience tapping their feet at the concert.
The project, launched in February this year, is being conducted with guidance from Iva Fattorini, Chair of Global Arts and Medicine Institute, Cleveland Clinic; and the Ernakulam district administration.
