Hundreds of visitors to the fair have taken advantage of the free check-ups and medicines offered at the 20 specialty clinics that are demonstrating the effectiveness of traditional medicines in treating chronic conditions such as arthritis, hypertension, insomnia and diabetes.
Of these clinics, five are of Ayurveda, four of Unani, three of Siddha, two of Homoeopathy and one Naturopathy systems of medicine while five are pharmacies.
Consultations are being provided for a whole range of diseases, including respiratory, urinary, neurological, mental, gastrointestinal and skin disorders, joints pain, obesity and diabetes. Experts in paediatrics, ENT and geriatric conditions are also on hand.
"Ayurveda can treat with medication alone serious conditions such as liver problems and spinal cord damage caused by cancer for which modern medicine often prescribes surgery," said Nand Kishore, a physician at one of the Ayurveda clinics.

He said he had recently treated a 36-year-old male patient with liver failure who had been recommended a transplant by allopathy doctors. A few months of Ayurvedic treatment had helped restored all liver functions to normal, he said.
"The growing footfall at these clinics is a happy indication of the general revival of interest in traditional systems for improving people's health and wellness," said A Jayakumar, of the World Ayurveda Foundation which is organising the event in collaboration with Department of AYUSH, Union Ministry of Health and Delhi government.
