Specialty clinics offering free consultation by Ayurveda physicians and experts in other traditional treatment systems are proving to be major crowd-puller at the four-day Arogya Expo in the national capital.
Hundreds of visitors to the fair have taken advantage of the free check-ups and medicines offered at the 20 specialty clinics that are demonstrating the effectiveness of traditional medicines in treating chronic conditions such as arthritis, hypertension, insomnia and diabetes.
Of these clinics, five are of Ayurveda, four of Unani, three of Siddha, two of Homoeopathy and one Naturopathy systems of medicine while five are pharmacies.
Consultations are being provided for a whole range of diseases, including respiratory, urinary, neurological, mental, gastrointestinal and skin disorders, joints pain, obesity and diabetes. Experts in paediatrics, ENT and geriatric conditions are also on hand.
The clinics are functioning from 10 am to 6 pm on all four days of the expo which began yesterday and is being held alongside the sixth edition of the World Ayurveda Congress (WAC) at Pragati Maidan.
"Ayurveda can treat with medication alone serious conditions such as liver problems and spinal cord damage caused by cancer for which modern medicine often prescribes surgery," said Nand Kishore, a physician at one of the Ayurveda clinics.
