Newly elected BJP MP from Bhiwandi constituency Kapil Patil today said he favours division of Thane district into two parts- Thane and Palghar.
"Let anybody say anything and demand for three or four districts (on dividing Thane into three- four district). My view is that Thane should be divided into two parts- Thane and Palghar," Patil told reporters here.
The former president of the Thane Zilla Parishad further hoped the government will act swiftly and go in for the bifurcation.
Speaking on issue of construction of dams on Kalu and Shahi rivers in the district, a former member of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA), said he as a MMRDA member, was opposed to the construction of dams.
"I will meet the villagers in affected areas and understand their problems and accordingly deal with the situation," he said.
Patil said that he would take up the matter of Kalyan Nagar Railway Link and the Kalyan Railway Terminus projects, which have been shelved.
He said he will also meet the Divisional Railway Manager (Central Railway) and discuss issues pertaining to railways in his constituency.
"All MPs from the state would meet the railway minister and raise the issue of increasing height of platforms in all Central and Western suburban stations, as it is a major concern for commuters," he added.
