The Patna police has asked the city's municipal body to rein in deserted animals straying in Gandhi Maidan which could pose a security hazarad at Republic Day function.
Patna Senior Superintendent of Police Jitendra Rana has written a letter to Commissioner,Patna Municipal Corporation Kuldip Narayan to this effect.
Rana told PTI today that in has been seen that undomesticated dog or cattle venture inside Gandhi maidan during rehersal for January 26 Republic Day, hence the corporation has been asked to rein such animals.
The SSP said keeping animals away from Gandhi Maidan was also needed from security point of view also as such animals could be used as carriers of bomb by anti-social elements.
He said such animals could also trigger stampede during any function.
Gandhi maidan witnessed serial bomb blasts during a rally of Narendra Modi in October, 2013 in which six persons had died.
During Dusherra last year a stampede broke out at one of the exit doors that opened towards Ram Gulam chowk in which 33 persons were killed.
