Odisha's demands were placed before the Centre when Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik met Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari in New Delhi today.
Patnaik discussed road infrastructure issues and asked the Union minister to take urgent steps for early completion of National Highways in Odisha, an official release issued by the Chief Minister's Office said.
"I impressed on the minister (Nitin Gadkari) to finalise the tender processes and complete pending critical works on National Highways in Odisha involving 6 stretches and road length up to 585 km," Patnaik said.
The chief minister also urged the Union Minister to approve 30 eligible state roads of 2,483 km length as new National Highways as per proposals submitted by the state government in December, 2016.
Besides, he asked the Union Minister to finalise tender process for different NHs like the four-laning of Cuttack-Angul (NH-42), four-laning of Barkote-Panposh (NH-23), six-laning of Chandikhole-Balasore (NH-16) and four-laning of Chandikhole-Duburi-Talcher Section of NH-200.
"Gadkari said he will certainly see that all these projects are expedited," the official release added.
