Patnaik, who visited the border areas of the Karimganj sector, said the Reserve Bank of India had initiated several measures to check the menace.
The Governor also visited Jabainpur and Sarulbagh areas along the Indo-Bangla border which has been severely affected by erosion caused by River Kushiara.
Patnaik later told reporters that the government was dealing with the issue of infiltration and as Bangladesh was a friendly country, all issues with that country would be resolved through discussions.
He was also briefed by BSF's Sector head of Cachar-Mizoram Frontier DIG U C Hazarika on the fencing work along the Indo-Bangla border.
