A village revenue official was arrested by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Chhattisgarh police in Bijapur district for allegedly taking a bribe of Rs 19,000 on Wednesday.
Ramavtar Dubey, a 'Patwari' posted at Ghoghadih village, was allegedly caught red-handed while accepting a bribe from Balaram Yadav, a local resident, said Superintendent of Police Manish Sharma.
Yadav had filed an application at the Patwari office seeking a partition of ancestral land between him and his siblings and issuance of separate land record books for each of them.
Dubey allegedly demanded bribe, refusing to do the work otherwise.
After Yadav complained to the ACB, a trap was laid and Dubey was arrested when he accepted the bribe, the SP said.
A case under the Prevention of Corruption Act was registered against him. Further probe is on.
