KB Pawan smashed an unbeaten 83 off 91 balls to guide Nagaland to an easy seven-wicket victory over Sikkim in a Vijay Hazare Trophy Plate Group encounter here Sunday.
Put in to bat, Sikkim managed a paltry 121 in 49 overs with seven of their batsmen failing to reach double figures. Ashish Thapa was the top scorer with 46 off 115 balls with five boundaries.
Thapa and Plazor Tamang (22) added 53 runs for the third wicket, which was the only significant partnership for Sikkim, who are not availing the services of any outstation players in their debut first-class season.
Ravi Maurya, Imliwati Lemtur and Tamheed Rahman got two wicket apiece.
In reply, Nagaland scored the runs in 26.2 overs with former Karnataka Ranji player Pawan hitting eight fours and two sixes. The second highest scorer was Abrar Kazi with 18.
This was Nagaland's second win in three games while Sikkim have lost all their matches till now.
