BJP today dubbed as mere poll talk the comment by NCP Chief Sharad Pawar that the ruling BJP-Shiv Sena alliance in Maharashtra will fall apart ahead of BMC polls and asserted that the government will complete its term.
"These (Pawar's remarks) are election remarks. Pawar is doing whatever is needed to win elections. Even he knows that this government will complete its term," state BJP president Raosaheb Danve told reporters here.
"Congress and NCP do not want the BJP-Shiv Sena Government to complete its term. But I can assure you this government will complete its full five year term," Danve said.
Addressing a rally last evening for Congress candidate and former Chief Minister Narayan Rane in the keenly fought April 11 by-election from Bandra East here, Pawar said the BJP-Shiv Sena alliance will break ahead of Mumbai Municipal Corporation elections due in early 2017.
"The day the BMC polls are declared, this alliance will not be there," NCP supremo had said, adding the Bandra by-poll will prove to be a turning point in Maharashtra politics.
The by-election was necessitated by the death of sitting Shiv Sena MLA, Bala Sawant. Sena-BJP have fielded Trupti Sawant, his widow, in the by-poll.
