Pawar said "the socialist movement had lost a towering personality in her death as she tirelessly toiled for a better deal to the common man on issues like price rise and housing".
Recalling his long association with the 84-year-old former MP, he said that as the minister in-charge of civil supplies in Maharashtra some four decades back, he had also faced the famous "rolling pin morcha" (latne morcha) led by her.
He said she had worked for the underprivileged overcoming tragedies in personal life.
