Former Union Minister Sharad Pawar has stressed on the need to carve a new minority district of Malegaon out of Nashik for proper development of the powerloom town.
"The bifurcation of Nashik district has been delayed for past many years, but now we will try our best to create a new Malegaon district and it will be developed," Pawar said while addressing a public rally here yesterday.
The NCP chief said they will make efforts for providing concessions to powerlooms for their overall development and to start a direct flight service from Aurangabad for Haj pilgrims.
On the occasion, state PWD minister Chhagan Bhujbal criticised the Narendra Modi-led Central government for its "anti-farmer policies".
Lauding the NCP chief, Bhujbal said when Pawar was the Union Agriculture Minister, he took care of the farmers, but alleged that now they were facing problems due to the "wrong agriculture policies of the NDA government.
