"While dispensing their noble duties policemen should not forget to attend to the welfare of their families and children. Whatever time they get they should try to look after their children well and ensure that their children do not get into bad company or crimes," said Inspector General of Police, Kashmir, A G Mir.
Two local LeT militants, including son of an Assistant Sub-Inspector, were killed in a gunbattle with security forces in south Kashmir's Kulgam district on Sunday.
The officer, Nazir Ahmad Bhat, said he was surprised when he came to know that his 20-year-old son Zubair had joined militant ranks.
"It was some nine months ago when I had met my son. At that time he had not joined militant ranks and was studying in the second year at a degree college in Anantnag. I fail to understand why and how he joined militant ranks. For the past nine months I have never met him, though I put all my efforts to persuade him to return home," the ASI had said after the encounter.
