He also referred Union Minister' last month visit to Anandpur Sahib during which he also raised the matter pertaining to drug and had expressed commitment to make Punjab drug free state.
"Your concern over the crucial issue not only sent a positive message among the masses but also conveyed the serious approach of the centre government towards the matter," Sharma said.

Sharma said though the state government is trying its best to eradicate drugs from the state yet more coordinated effort between central and state agencies is need of the hour.
Pointing towards NCB, the premier national agency for checking drug menace, Sharma said presently, the Chandigarh unit of NCB, which deals with the states of Punjab, Himachal Pradesh and Haryana, is facing staff crunch.
"It has come to my knowledge that as per the requisite strength of about 20 officers, there are presently four officers posted in the NCB, Chandigarh unit. Not only at the Punjab level, Bureau is marred by the staff scarcity even at the national level with top three posts lying vacant since March this year.
In wake of the fact that proper follow up and investigations by NCB sleuths consumes lot of time, there is immediate need to strengthen the Bureau's Chandigarh Unit," he said.
"By increasing the staff strength of the NCB, Chandigarh Unit, the officers will be able to handle the crucial matter in a much better and effective manner," Punjab BJP Chief said.
" It is my humble request to your goodself to please intervene in the matter and see to it that at least 30 officers are posted with the NCB Chandigarh Unit, so that more concrete results can come out. This will go a long way in eradicating the menace of the drugs completely from Punjab," Sharma said.
