"Doctors who treated 14-month-old Eknoor Kaur said that aspiration could be the cause of her death," Bhatinda Civil Surgeon Ajay Sahni said in a statement here today.
"The child was suffering from infantile tremor syndrome due to vitamin deficiency as she was being only milk fed even at 14 months of age," the statement reads.
The teachers have been protesting near the Inter-State Bus Stand at Bhatinda for the past few days to press their demands, including higher salary and emoluments.
Sahni said Eknoor was admitted to the civil hospital on the evening of February 3 after she fell ill when her mother was protesting on top of the water tank and wanted the medical staff to come and check the child there itself.
