Pb govt to give Rs 1 lakh to victims of botched eye operation
Press Trust of India Chandigarh Financial assistance of Rs one lakh each will be given to the patients who suffered eye damage after undergoing botched operation conducted by a private hospital at Panipat recently, Haryana Health Minister Anil Vij said today.
He said that the entire expenditure of their treatment at Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) Chandigarh has been borne by the state government.
Vij presided over a review meeting of Health department here today.
Directions have been given to immediately provide a compensation of Rs one lakh each to 17 patients who had suffered severe damage to their eyesight during operation, he said.
The minister said that directions have been issued to submit the inspection report of all ultrasound machines in the state to keep a complete check on the practice of female foeticide.
