In Punjab, Patiala recorded a high of 42.4 degrees Celsius, five notches above normal, while Amritsar's maximum settled at 41.7 degrees Celsius, three notches above normal.
Ludhiana's maximum temperature was 41.8 degrees Celsius, three notches above normal, while Chandigarh, the common capital of the two states, registered a high of 41.4 degrees Celsius, two notches above normal.
