Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal today said the state government had submitted a proposal to the Centre to make some changes in the national crop insurance scheme as some of its clauses are "not suitable" to farmers' interest.
He said Union Minister Harsimrat Badal had also raised the issue at appropriate platform in Delhi as the provision like 75 per cent deficit in rainfall to avail the insurance benefit is against the interests of farmers in the state.
After inaugurating an automated test driving centre here, he claimed the state government has taken several initiatives to bail out debt-ridden farmers from agrarian crisis.
He said the state government has set up call centers for people to lodge complaints regarding social security schemes.
Besides, random calls would be made to enquire about the satisfaction level of farmers under 'Bhagat Puran Singh Sehat Bima Yojna' in the coming days, he said.
He said Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal's stance on contentious SYL issue has proved he is "anti-state and anti-farmers".
Earlier addressing a gathering, he said recruitment process for more than one lakh posts would start in two weeks.
Besides, 200 skill development centres would be opened soon to train one lakh students in a year to ensure self-employment for youths.
