Pb suicide: Police conducts raids to arrest teachers named in

Two days after a 21-year-old college student committed suicide, the police were conducting raids to arrest two of her teachers who were named in the note left behind by her.
Meenal, a student of Rayat and Bahra Dental college here, was found hanging at her residence Thursday night, police said, adding, she had left behind a note in which she alleged harassment by the two teachers who are currently absconding.
Meenal's family has demanded immediate arrest of the two, identified as Neeraj Taneja and Smriti Bansal, Inderpal Singh, Sub Inspector, the Investigating officer in the case, said.
He said that he had visited the college campus yesterday but the two teachers were not there.
"We have obtained addresses of their residences and are conducting raids to nab them," he told PTI.
The police has registered a case against the duo for provocating Meenal to commit suicide.

Raj Kumar Chhabra, father of the girl, demanded immediate arrest of the accused teachers. The mother of the girl, identified as Santosh, who works as Superintendent in the Deputy Commissioner's office said that her daughter had made complaints to senior faculty members about the harassment but college authorities took no action.
Deputy Director (media affairs), Rayat and Bahra Dental college, Sanjiv Tejpal today said that college authorities were cooperating in the police investigation and an internal probe is also going on to ascertain role of the two teachers.
He clarified that Meenal had committed suicide at her residence. The initial reports had said that she had hanged herself in her hostel room.
