"In the wake of the whopping expenditure incurred on holding such camps it was necessary to make provisions to ably conduct this philanthropic cause," Badal said on the concluding day of two-day mega medical camp here.

He said that from the coming financial year the state government would ensure that separate funds are kept in the budget for organising these camps in an efficient manner.

The chief minister claimed that proper record of the patients registered in these health camps was being maintained, adding that the patients, who have been referred for advanced treatment, would be provided the requisite financial help by the state government.

He further said that the state government was committed to upgrade the health infrastructure for which recruitment process of the specialist doctors was already in the pipeline.

The state industrial policy, laying thrust on developing industries in accordance to the agricultural produce of an area, is likely to be announced next year, Badal said, adding "it would encourage farmers to adopt crop diversification thereby bailing them out of the vicious cycle of wheat/paddy cultivation."

Earlier the chief minister accompanied by Lok Sabha MP from Bathinda Harsmirat Kaur Badal laid down foundation stone of a drug de-addiction centre at Khayala Kalan village.
