Walia, who was the Indian cricket team's media manager during the recent tour of Australia, along with PCA officials including CEO Brig (retd) G S Sandhu, presented a cake to Tendulkar on his 39th birthday today.
Sandhu told PTI that Walia had been feeling hungry as he went to office without having his meal.
"After seeing off Tendulkar, Walia went to his office on the second floor, picked up the phone to order some food from the canteen. Even as he was talking over the phone, he started breathing heavily and suddenly turned pale," he said.
The reporters present at the stadium witnessed Walia being driven to a nearby private hospital.
"We hope he gets well soon," Sandhu said.
Meanwhile, Tendulkar along with his Mumbai Indians teammates had a practice session at the PCA.
