PCI panel conducts inquiry in attacks on AP journalists

A Press Council of India (PCI) appointed committee today visited the city to conduct an inquiry into the recent attacks on journalists in Guntur district.
The committee, consisting of N Ramachandra Rao, N Amaranadh and Praksh Dube, gathered details about the killing of senior journalist M V N Shankar at Chilakaluripet late last year and attack on Stephen Babu at Vinukonda.
Babu, Editor of 'Crime Today', was critically injured in the assault early this month.
The members met local journalists, district officials and discussed the issue.
Rao later said a report on the outcome of their fact- finding mission would be submitted to the PCI Chairman within six weeks.
