PDD official held for accepting bribe in J-K
Press Trust of India Jammu A junior engineer in Power Development Department (PDD) was arrested after he was allegedly caught accepting bribe at Bari Brahmna area in Samba district of Jammu and Kashmir, a spokesman of the SVO said.
Ved Prakash had allegedly demanded a bribe of Rs 20,000 from a person for providing electricity connection to his unit even as he had completed all the required formalities last year, the spokesman of State Vigilance Organisation said.
"A case was registered on the written complaint of Kuldeep Chand of Bishnah and a successful trap was laid wherein the accused was caught while demanding and accepting the bribe of Rs 5,000," he said.
The spokesman said Chand approached the SVO stating that last year he had applied before two-three departments for obtaining of licence for flour grinding machine and was told to deposit the security amount with the PDD department for providing of electricity connection.
He deposited the security money and also obtained a receipt in this regard from the department, he said.
