PDEXCIL plans to hold two overseas expos this year

Powerloom Development & Export Promotion Council (PDEXCIL) plans to conduct ten expos of powerloom textile products in different parts of the country, besides two in overseas destinations, during the current financial year, a top official said today.
The expos -- buyer-seller meets -- would be held in Bangalore, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad and in north eastern states, among others, PDEXCIL chairman R Agarwal told PTI here on the sidelines of an exhibition organised by the council.
The council, set up under the Union Ministry of Textiles to promote powerloom sector, would organise international expos in Colombo in Sri Lanka and in Ho Chi Minh City of Vietnam, he added.
The council has 1,600 weaver members and generated business to the tune of Rs 65 crore last year through the expos, he said, adding that the target for this year is Rs 75 crore.
