"The maximum financial relief being provided to a migrant family per month is Rs 5,000 and we have demanded the state government to increase the amount to Rs 15,000 each month," President of Migrant Wing of PDP, Ashok Bhat said at a conference here.

He pointed out that Rs 41.66 per person per day was "insufficient" amount for a Kashmiri migrant.

"One can hardly buy meal for one time in the financial aid being provided presently," Bhat said adding the government should immediately raise the monthly relief to migrants.

Migrants totally dependent of government relief are the worst affected, he added.

Bhat lashed out at the state government for failing to solve the problem faced by migrants at Jagti township of Jammu.

Poor power scenario at Jagti has made the situation even worse for migrants, he added.
