PDP finalises party candidates for assembly polls

Opposition Peoples Democratic Party in Jammu and Kashmir today said it had finalised the list of candidates for upcoming assembly polls in the state and would declare their names shortly.
The PDP's Politcal Affairs Committee (PAC) met under the chairmanship of party patron Mufti Mohammad Sayeed and discussed the electoral strategy for the assembly elections scheduled later this year, a PDP spokesman said.
It also finalised the list of party candidates for the polls and their names would be released shortly, he said.
The meeting was attended among others by three party MPs -- PDP president Mehbooba Mufti, Muzaffar Hussain Baig and Tariq Hameed Karra.

It reviewed the political situation in the state in the light of results of the Lok Sabha polls and discussed the names of party candidates considering different parameters, the spokesman said.
Addressing the meeting, Sayeed asked party leaders to continue with their mass contact programme and organisational activities to seek a decisive mandate from the people for a strong and accountable government in the state.
