"National Conference does not need anybody's money bags to degenerate further as long as its policies remain anti-people and focused on personal ambition and wealth," PDP patron Mufti Mohammad Sayeed said while addressing a workers' meeting of Chadoora constituency here.

National Conference President Farooq Abdullah had said yesterday, "When I was the chief minister (1996-2002), PDP got money bags in Delhi to wipe out National Conference but we want to tell them that NC is not weak and even if you spend crores of rupees you cannot wipe us."

The PDP leader claimed political parties lacking vision, efficiency and integrity needed nothing else to lose the confidence of people.

Sayeed said National Conference was responsible for the systemic mess and sufferings of people of the state.

"It is sad that instead of doing an introspection and trying to rebuild its image through dedicated and purposeful service of people, the ruling party is indulging in mudslinging on its opponents," he said.

He said the disillusionment of people with the NC-led government had strong reasons behind it and the party could not wish away either the PDP or the fallout of its own misdeeds by cursing its opponents or spinning stories of conspiracy.
