A PDP MLA was today marshalled out from Jammu and Kashmir Assembly over the disruption of proceedings by holding protests against the government's alleged failure to airlift the stranded people caught in heavy snowfall in Kupwara region.
During Question Hour in the state Assembly, Abdul Haq Khan raised the issue of severe problems being faced by the people due to heavy snowfall and failure to move them to other places for medical facilities.
Machhil area is totally unconnected with the rest of the state due to heavy snowfall and people are stranded due to snow conditions, he said adding that he had asked the state government to arrange choppers to ferry them to the other places for medical treatment.
However, Speaker Mubarak Gul asked him to raise the issue during Zero Hour, but Khan continued with protests and tried to enter into the Well to disrupt the proceedings amid noisy scenes.
As he continued sloganeering and protests, disrupting the proceedings, the Speaker asked the marshalls to escort him to outside the Assembly and accordingly he was marshalled out.
Speaking to the reporters, Khan said that he was raising the issues pertaining to the people of his Constituency.
"Our people are stranded in snow and want to be ferried to other places to get their treatment done," he said.
"We want the government to requisition choppers from Indian Air Force to ferry the people of Machhil to other places," he said.
