PDP's Mehbooba to contest from Anantnag seat in 2014 LS polls

Opposition PDP today announced its president Mehbooba Mufti as the candidate for the Anantnag Lok Sabha constituency in Jammu and Kashmir for the parliamentary elections scheduled to be held next year.
The party also named former state finance minister Tariq Hamid Karra as its candidate for the Srinagar Lok Sabha seat.
The announcement was made by PDP patron Mufti Mohammad Sayeed after a meeting of senior party leaders here, a spokesman of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) said.
"The names of candidates for Baramulla and Ladakh constituencies are expected to be announced later," he said.
Mehbooba had represented the Anantnag constituency in 2004 Lok Sabha polls and won the seat. She is the only PDP leader to have entered the lower house of the Parliament.

Addressing the meeting, Sayeed said the PDP is aiming at bringing a change in the entire political scenario and the administrative system in the state.
