PDP workers today clashed with police during a protest demanding food and shelter for passengers stranded for the past four days at the bus stand here due to closure of the Jammu-Srinagar highway.
Over 200 protesters, led by PDP youth wing Vice-President Rajinder Singh Manhas, held the demonstration this evening to protest against the alleged failure of the Jammu and Kashmir government in providing food and shelter to the passengers stuck here following heavy snowfall.
They clashed with police when the latter tried to disperse them. Manhas said four partymen suffered injuries in the clash, a claim which police denied.
Over 500 Kashmir-bound passengers have been stranded for the past four days due to the closure of the highway.
The protesters demanded that authorities take immediate steps to provide food and shelter to the passengers.
Later, a hall at the bus stand was vacated to accommodate the stranded passengers.
