Four knives, as many sim cards and a mobile phone set were recovered as the authorities today carried out searches in the Deoria district jail where former MP Atiq Ahmad is one of the inmates, officials said today.
In nearly three hours of searches, each barrack including that of Ahmad was searched, the official said.
Four pen drives were recovered from Ahmad's barrack while four SIM cards, a mobile phone set and four vegetable cutting knives were recovered from others, Superintendent of Police, Deoria, Rohan P Kanay said.
Around 6 am, over 300 policemen led by District Magistrate Sujit Kumar and SP Kanay conducted searches at Deoria district jail, according to officials.
All the Circle Officers, and district administration officials were present during the searches.
