The Penguin wagon, currently touring Odisha, is hosting several classics and many books from celebrated authors such as Khushwant Singh, Roald Dahl, Ruskin Bond, Vikram Seth, Arundhati Roy, Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Anita Desai, Amitav Ghosh among others.
The motto of the initiative is "keep reading" and is offering special discounts to motivate reading and enable access to a larger group of readers.
In Odisha, the book truck has reached out to universities, colleges, offices and institutions such as Mindtree, TCS, XIMB, IIT and NISER.
"2017 is a landmark year for us as we complete 30 remarkable years of publishing in India. Our vision has been to take books to a large cross section of readership and the campaign 'Keep Reading' was a natural extension of this idea. The collaboration with Walking Bookfairs helped us capture this thought process in an innovative format and the growing popularity of this campaign among our readership has been very heart warming for us as an organisation," says Neha Punj, manager (marketing and publicity) at Penguin Random House India.
