The agitators, under the aegis of the Goa Mining People's Front (GMPF), recently ended their sit-in protest at Azad Maidan here, after 70-odd days.
"Around 1,000 people will be participating in the protests against insensitivity of state and union governments in solving the crisis looming large over the mining industry in Goa", said GMPF Convenor Suhas Naik today.
The protest is to draw attention of union government and the supreme court to the plight of people affected due to suspension of mining activity, Naik said.
Naik said that protesters will submit a memorandum to Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar, Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh, Congress president Sonia Gandhi and Minister for Environment and Forests Jayanti Natarajan in this regard.
Naik also appealed to chief minister Manohar Parrikar and the Leader of Opposition Pratapsingh Rane to lead an all-party delegation on the issue affecting livelihood of lakhs of people to New Delhi, and seek immediate resumption of mining activity.
"The current session of Goa legislative assembly should also pass unanimous resolution demanding resumption of legal mining", he demanded.
