Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan today called upon the people of Himachal Pradesh to work with determination to free the state from the 'corrupt' rule of the Congress.
Addressing the public during the BJP's 'Parivartan Rath Yatra' in Satiwala village of Nahan at Shimla Parliament Constituency, Chouhan said, "Himachal Pradesh is known for honesty and honest people but the Congress CM (Virbhadra Singh) has tarnished the image of this dev bhoomi".
He said that while the erstwhile BJP government in the state was remembered for its development initiatives, the incumbent Congress government has failed to address the problems of farmers and poor, and brought development to a standstill.
Chouhan also alleged that the state government was not fully utilising central funding, which shows that the development is not a "priority" for the government.
"Welfare of farmers and poor is top priority in BJP ruled states," he said.
"If Madhya Pradesh can give interest free loan to farmers, cheap food, cheap housing, free land to landless, free education, assistance for the marriage of the poor and reservation in jobs to women, why cannot the Himachal government do it?" he asked.

Showering praise on Prime Minister Narender Modi, Chouhan said that the PM has won hearts of the countrymen by launching development programmes for all citizens, especially for the uplift of the poor and farmers.
"PM Modi has emerged as most powerful politician not in the country but on the global platform. It is due to the charismatic leadership of Modi that India has acquired the highest respect in the world and India is being seen as an emerging big world power," he said.
He appealed to the people of Himachal Pradesh to march ahead with 'Vikas Purush' (PM Modi) to take "the state to new horizons of development".
