Former Haryana chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda today slammed the state government for allegedly failing on all fronts and claimed that people were waiting for the polls to teach them a lesson.

"The BJP government only made false poll promises to the people and did event management in the last four years. No development was undertaken during past four years. Now, people are waiting eagerly for the polls to teach them a lesson," he told reporters here.

The former CM said employees from various government departments were agitating on roads in support of various demands and issues, which was a sign of the government's failure.

"This is a sign of failure of government," he said.

The law and order situation in the state has worsened and criminals have become emboldened. They are openly committing crimes, Hooda further said.

He also trained guns on main opposition party INLD, alleging that its "Jail Bharo" stir on the SYL canal issue was a "mere drama".

When asked to comment on a Haryana minister reportedly saying that the violence during the Jat reservation agitation in February 2016 was part of a deep rooted conspiracy and people close to Hooda were among those behind the act, the former CM said, "To this, I will only say that God forgive them for they don't know what they are saying and what they are doing."
Asked if there was possibility of change of guard in the Haryana's Congress unit, he said, "we have already authorised our party's national president to take a decision in this regard. Whosoever he makes (the state unit chief) will be acceptable to all."
When asked that the BJP often accused him of concentrating development works in Rohtak region, he said, "I want to make it clear that the Congress had undertaken all-round and equitable development in Haryana."
