He said a number of scams had surfaced during the Congress rule and the people would show the "corrupt and non-performing" government the "exit door" in the ongoing Lok Sabha elections.
Addressing an election rally at Bhangala village near Mukerian, about 60 km from here, in support of BJP candidate from Hoshiarpur Lok Sabha seat Vijay Sampla, Singh said that due to "failure of the UPA government on all fronts and its bad governance", the prices of essential commodities and unemployment rate had increased to a great extent.
"Instead of taking some concrete actions for controlling the price hike, some leaders of UPA government had encouraged black marketeers and hoarders," he alleged.
Singh also claimed that despite various requests from the SAD-BJP government in Punjab for special status to the state, the UPA government had turned a deaf ear.
He appealed to the people to cast their votes in favour of Vijay Sampla for strengthening the hands of Narendra Modi, the BJP's prime ministerial candidate.
State BJP chief Kamal Sharma, Rajya Sabha member Avinash Rai Khanna and local BJP and SAD leaders were present at the rally.
