Permission granted to DMK to stage demo in Pudukottai: Govt
Press Trust of India Madurai Tamil Nadu government today informed the Madras High Court bench it had granted permission to DMK to stage a demonstration at Pudukottai on June 11 against arrest of three party workers who were on their way to attend a function presided by the Chief Minister.
In his counter to the writ petition by K Chellapandian, in charge pudukottai DMK district secretary, the government advocate said permission had been granted by Superintendent of Police to hold the demonstration at 4.00 PM on June 11 at the same venue sought by the DMK
However DMK counsel said they had not received the permission.
The demonstration is to protest against the arrest of the DMK MLAs when they were on their way to attend the Chief Minister's function yesterday, organised to inaugurate the government medical college hospital.
Justice S S Sundar closed the petition as permission had been granted and said it was open to the petitioner to seek a direction in case they run into any more difficulty.
