In second such attack targeting BJP here this month, miscreants hurled a petrol bomb at the residence of a party functionary early today but no one was injured.
Police said the petrol bomb was hurled around 3 AM at the house of Coimbatore District BJP chief C R Nandakumar when he was sleeping.
None was injured and only a car parked in the house suffered damage in the attack, they added.
Condeming the incident, the Tamil Nadu unit of BJP announced a demonstration in the city on March 23 to draw the attention of Chief Minister K Palaniswami to 'negligence' by the police to provide protection.
It claimed the incident occurred despite intelligence inputs warning of attacks on party leaders and pleas by the party to provide security to its leaders.
Today's attack came close on the heels of the March 7 incident when two petrol bombs were hurled at the party's district headquarters here in which also no one was injured.

BJP state chief Tamilisai Soundarajan, who visited the house of Nandakumar, blamed police 'negligence' for the incident, saying they failed to provide protection to party leaders as sought after the earlier incident.
Speaking to reporters, she said the party would hold a "massive" demonstration here on Friday.
When asked whether she will seek a CBI inquiry or the intervention of union Home Ministry into these incidents, the BJP leader said the party was hopeful police would do the needful.
"Let them do their job and find out who is doing what, since they are in the know of those behind such acts," he said.
Seeking arrest of the miscreants, over 100 BJP workers blocked a main road in the city, causing brief traffic disruption.
The workers came in a procession with party flags and raised slogans and dispersed after senior police officials rushed to the spot and assured them of action to bring the culprits to book.
Police said they were verifying the CCTV footage obtained from the cameras installed in the area.
Police said they suspected the attack could be in retaliation to vandalism of statues of leaders, including rationalist icon 'Periyar' E V Ramasamy, or against the "Ram Rajya Rath Yatra" presently traversing through the state.
