Unidentified men
looted Rs 40,000 from the salesman of a petrol pump at Sheragada town, about 40-km from here today, police said today.
The incident took place one hour before Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik landed at Sheragada - his home turf to attend a thanks-giving ceremony and police were busy with his security arrangements.
The injured salesman was admitted at the MKCG Medical College and Hospital here and his condition was stated to be critical, Sheragada police station inspector-in-charge Bansidhar Kanhar said.
At least two motorcycle-borne persons entered the patrol pump, located in the outskirts of Sheragada and fired in the air and demanded the money-bag from the salesmen at gun point, he said.
While one salesman could manage to flee from the scene, the miscreants snatched the bag from the other one after injuring him, Kanhar said, adding, that a search programme to nab the culprits has been initiated in the area.
Incidentally, yesterday, miscreants allegedly snatched a money-bag from a salesman of a petrol pump at Khodasingi under BN Pur police station limit here, police said.
