Petroleum products were allegedly stolen by unidentified persons from the Mathura-Jalandhar pipeline of Indian Oil Corporation Limited, police said today.
The matter came to light late last night when police came to know about the alleged theft from a petroleum pipeline which runs through a residential colony of the Police Station-Highway Mathura area, they said.
"Police got information last night that an attempt was being made to steal petroleum products (diesel, petrol, kerosene, etc) from the pipeline going through Pushpanjali Upvan colony," Circle officer, Ajay Pal Sharma said.
The theft was given shape by digging a four-feet-ditch under the pipeline in an open space of the colony, Sharma said, adding that police has already started detailed investigation in the case.
A case has been registered against unknown persons, he said.
