PG doctors to call off strike

The perpetrators will be tried under Hospital Protection Act, Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr V S Vijay said after holding consultations with representatives of the doctors and top government officials.

A committee comprising the Health Secretary and PG doctors among others would be set up to look into ways and means to ensure safety of hospitals,Vijay said in a statement. He also said that the number of attenders accompanying patients would also be reduced.

The PG doctors and house surgeons across the state who had been striking work following an attack on one of them at a Chennai hospital assured to call off the strike following today's consultations, he said.
