Phagwara Improvement Trust scam: Cong activists stage protest

Congress activists today staged a demonstration outside the SP's office here to protest the filing of a case against former chairman of Phagwara Improvement Trust Balbir Raja Sodhi on charges of alleged fraud and forgery in the allotment of the Trust properties.
The protesters shouted slogans against Punjab government, police and the local BJP MLA, alleging that Sodhi was being framed in fake case.
Police had yesterday registered a case against Sodhi and six others based on a complaint lodged by Trust's present executive officer Surinder Kumari.
The complainant has alleged that Sodhi, during his tenure as the chairman of the Trust, and six others had embezzled crores of rupees, causing huge loss to the government.
