A cleanliness drive was carried out by the Home Guards of the istrict today, at a Primary Health Centre at nearby Karamadai, who sanitised the premises.
Sanitation in a hospital is an essential requirement to keep infection at bay. The patients who come in with low levels of immunity are more susceptible to infections and hence hospital is the most ideal place to carry out the clean city campaign, B Balaji, Area Commander of Home Guards, Coimbatore District, said in a release here.
About 30 Home Guards of Mettupalayam unit, including women, led by Company Commander V Chandran cleaned the premises of plastic and litter, besides removing weeds in the hospital, the release said.
It took four hours to clean the area and fill the slush, formed by the rains, with dry soil so as to ensure that the patients do not slip and fall, it said, adding, the campaign is an on-going process and the Home Guards will look into cleaning hospitals.
