Consumer electronics firm Philips today expanded its presence in the premium lighting segment with the launch of two global brands, Luceplan and Modular, to tap the Rs 350-crore Indian luxury lighting market.
The brands will be sold through exclusive partners in Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru, the company said in a statement.
"Luxury lighting market today is about Rs 350 crore in India. The market has shown a niche, but considerate demand for designer lighting, which is well in line with our strategy to introduce Luceplan and Modular in metro cities," said Philips Lighting Solutions CEO Harsh Chitale.
Luceplan, headquartered in Milan, was set up almost four decades ago while Modular Lighting Instruments is based in Belgium and its products and lighting solutions are integrated in architectural projects in hospitality, offices, retail, private residences and public buildings.
Luceplan CEO & General Manager Patrizia Vicenzi said: "Entering the Indian market under the leadership of Philips Lighting is a bright opportunity for Luceplan to consolidate its growth outside the European market.
