"The light lounge is an experience zone which gives customers a 'see, touch and feel' experience of a diverse range of company's world-class home decorative lighting designs and concept in an interactive manner," Kiran Koteshwara Thotapalli, Head, South, Home Decorative Lighting, Philips Lighting India, told reporters here.
Stating that at present South has 50 such lounges, Kiran said that the company, after selecting its partners, will have 80 such stores by December 2015.
Declining to give financial details of the company, he said the company is expected to double its sales this year.
Tamil Nadu, being a key market for the company, Philips is focused on consistently expanding its retail foothold in the state.
Moreover, the growing awareness about LED lighting and its benefits among consumers across India has given it the confidence to continue expanding its presence in Tamil Nadu, he said.
Asked about competition from Chinese products, Kiran said there is difference as a branded product is far superior in quality, backed by guarantee, which always has the liking of customers and the company has a product range starting from Rs 575 to Rs 60,000.
