Phones, tablets worth Rs 55 lakh recovered from gang members

Mobile phones and tablets worth Rs 55 lakh have been recovered from two members of a gang that was involved in stealing containers loaded with costly electronic goods in South Delhi, police said today.
The accused, Ravi Kumar and Rajat Sehrawat, were arrested yesterday in Mahipalpur and police recovered 1,619 mobile phones and tablets, said additional DCP-I (South) Nupur Prasad.
The duo were arrested in connection with police investigation of a complaint by a transporter Ravi Sehrawat that his driver Subodh had failed to deliver the container of mobile phones and tablets to Delhi on the date of delivery and his phone was switched off, at Mehrauli police station on August 3.
The truck was found abandoned in Chhattarpur by police.
Police received information that the stolen containers were taken away from the truck in smaller vehicles and zeroed in on Ravi who worked as a driver.
During interrogation, Ravi and Rajat told police that Amit, Virender and Sharavan are the masterminds behind the thefts.
They also revealed that they used to offer money to drivers of different cargo companies for leaving their vehicles containing boxes of mobile phones and tabs at isolated places, added the officer.
