IFFI-acclaimed 'Phoring' actor Sohini Sarkar, now turning up as the ever-indulgent sister of the 'Gang of Kids' in 'Open Tee Bioscope', says she is most struck by the Bengaliness of the Shoojit Sircar production.
"Open Tee Bioscope refers to the early 90s era when coffee shops and book stores, when mobile apps were unheard of in downtown Kolkata.
"Can't say I am nostalgic when that era was recreated during my shoots with Kaushik Sen and the five mischievous gang of five kids, since I was a new-born during the 90s," Sohini, also starring in Kolkata International Film Festival premiered 'Jhumura', themed on extinct Purulia folk culture, told PTI here.
"But 'Open Tee Bioscope' has the distinct hallmark, the imprint of Shoojit Sorcar and Anindyo Chattopadhyay, who were steeped into Bengali culture and had actually passed through that phase. I have also heard about that time from my father, when college street was the only treasure hunt and book stores and malls were alien concepts," Sohini, also starring in a feature-biopic on Soumitra Chatterjee, said.
Open Tee Bioscope also has shots of Park Street and the Flury's, the director Anindyo said.
"There is something to this city which is so ingrained to the heritage that is timeless. My visits to Flury's with father since childhood days remain etched in my memory. It still remain our itinerary every year,," Sohini, a known face in serials like OgoBodhuSundori, Adwitiya, said.
Produced by Shoojit Sircar, Open Tee Bioscope will be released this year.
