A 32-year-old man whose both legs had been rendered useless after an accident was found dead in mysterious conditions at his home in north-east Delhi, police said today.
The deceased, identified as Ajay, was found hanging with a railing at his home in Prem Nagar of Karawal Nagar yesterday, although he was bed-ridden for one-and-a-half years following an accident in which both his legs were injured, a police officer said.
Santosh, 28, wife of the deceased, was admitted to a hospital at the time of his death as she had apparently consumed some poisonous substance in an an alleged suicide attempt over monetary issue, he said.
A case of murder has been registered in the death of Ajay as he seemed unable to hang himself in a bid to suicide. His wife has also been questioned in this connection, the officer said.
Police said that prima facie Ajay's death appeared to be a case of suicide as it was revealed during enquiry that he had strained relations with his wife after he lost his job due to accident and the family was facing financial problems.
The murder case was registered at Karawal Nagar Police Station to rule out any foul play but the exact cause of Ajay's death will be known after his postmortem report is received, said the officer.
The death of the man was reported by his two sons, aged 8 years and 9 years, to the neighbours but no one came to enquire. The boys later met a cop at a nearby shop, who later made a PCR call.
