Italian two-wheeler maker Piaggio, maker of scooter Vespa, today announced entry into Nepal through its Indian arm by launching the iconic model.
Piaggio India will sell two variants of the Vespa scooter priced at NPR 2,49,946 and NPR 2,63,946 respectively, the company said in a statement.
Piaggio India Managing Director Stefano Pelle said: "This event is particularly important for the Piaggio Group that is very focused on this part of Asia in its globalisation strategies."
"The youth here has a great fashion sense of their own, which is why we think that Vespa will fit perfectly as a brand. We are certain that Vespa will allure the youth with its unmistakable style and Italian charm," he added.
The Vespa is powered by a 125cc engine and has features such as disc brake, tubeless tyres and single piece monocoque steel body.
In India Vespa made a comeback in April 2012.
Piaggio India produces the scooter at its plant in Baramati, Mahrashtra, along with a range of three- and four- wheeled commercial vehicles.
