Bhaskar Mathuram alleged that the management of the school at Palakarai had forced 150 students to drink the concoction, supplied by the corporation, when religious fast was being observed. Members of the local Jamath and locals had staged a dharna near the school, he said
The petitioner alleged that about 275 Muslim girls of a college in Thanjavur district were also forcibly asked to remove their purdahs by the staff. Local Jamath members and parents had also staged a protest and police had to intervene.
The Petitioner sought a directive from the court to the Collectors to issue orders not to interfere with the rights of the minorities to observe a fast and wearing of Purdah
The case will be heard tomorrow.
